The City of Santa Clara's Biennial Indoor Sculpture Exhibition has dozens of pieces of art on display at City Hall, 1500 Warburton Ave., from October 22nd through March, 2012. October 22, 2011 - March 31, 2012 "The Fine Art of Recyling" Sculpture Exhibition
"The Fine Art of Recyling" sculpture exhibition features nearly 40 pieces of art on display at Santa Clara City Hall at 1500 Warburton Ave across from the Triton Museum of Art. The wide variety of works include a small sculpture made from coffee cup sleeves, a life-sized sculpture formed out of shredded junk mail, and a dress composed entirely of cake-ingredient wrappers! January 3, 2012 - December 29, 2012 Exhibits at Intel Museum
Arti, an artificial intelligence robot, talks with museum guides to help tell the fascinating story about how Intel's technology helps teachers and students in South Africa. Visitors can also catch a handful of binary rain, representing the data created by emails, cell phones, video, and more. You can also get digitized as your digital photo is snapped and a digital postcard is created. The museum provides maps in multiple languages that provide a quick review of each exhibit. In all, the museum features over 30 fun, interactive exhibits. FREE admission. The Downtown Santa Clara Farmers Market is now open ALL YEAR ROUND! The market opens every Saturday from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. The popular activity is on Jackson Street between Benton and Homestead. This market is certified, meaning the participants only sell food items they have produced themselves. The "Growers Certificate" hanging at the farmer's stand is issued by the County Agriculture Commissioner authorizing the farmer to sell only the certain crops listed and grown by them. January 13, 2012 - March 18, 2012 Golden States of Grace: Prayers of the Disinherited - A Photodocumentary by Rick Nahmias - de Saisset Museum
We often see depictions of conventional religious practices, yet we rarely encounter the alternative forms of spiritual expression adopted by marginalized communities. Golden States of Grace: Prayers of the Disinherited aims to give a voice to those who participate in the diverse religious landscape of California, but who have been pushed to the edges of society because of conditions, actions, or circumstances. Working over a three year period, Nahmias spent multiple days with each group photographing and interviewing participants with a specific focus on individual congregants, their faith leaders, their rituals and ceremonies. 500 El Camino Real at Santa Clara University. In 2008, the de Saisset Museum received a substantial gift of 157 photographs from the Andy Warhol Foundation for the Visual Arts through the Andy Warhol Photographic Legacy Program. This exhibition marks the first time that the de Saisset Museum has showcased a significant portion of the works gifted through the Photographic Legacy Program.
